Sludge briquetting dust collector ash binder is primarily used to compress solid waste such as dust collector ash and sludge generated by steel mills into briquettes, facilitating resource recycling and reducing environmental pollution. It plays a crucial role in the treatment of solid waste in steel mills. Selecting the appropriate binder is of great significance for improving resource utilization and environmental protection.
Composite binder: More common in the market, environmentally friendly and acceptable to steel mills, but effectiveness varies by manufacturer, requiring communication and testing before selection.
Starch liquid adhesive: Such as the starch liquid adhesive used by Baosteel, but it requires strict control of briquette humidity and involves complex operations.
Dry powder binder: Such as the product developed by Hebei Baofei New Material Co., Ltd., which has low addition amounts and high dry and wet strength.
Currently, due to environmental requirements, steel mill waste dust collector ash is generally retained in the plant for re-briquetting and recycling. This includes pure dust collector ash briquetting, as well as briquetting with mixtures of dust collector ash, iron scale, iron powder, sludge, etc. Pure dust collector ash briquetting, due to its fine particles and lack of aggregate, struggles to achieve good forming strength, so it is often mixed with some iron scale for briquetting. The binders for dust collector ash briquetting currently fall into several main categories.
First type: Using magnesium chloride, water glass, etc., for briquetting. Although the unit price is low, the addition amount is high, and the briquette formation rate is low. The cost is relatively high, and the chlorine content can corrode the steel mill's combustion furnaces. Generally, steel mills do not allow the use of magnesium chloride and water glass.
Second type: Since dust collector ash contains calcium oxide, many manufacturers use ammonia as a raw material to counteract calcium oxide. However, this material has a pungent odor and is also rejected by steel mills.
Third type: Composite binder, which is currently an environmentally friendly method acceptable to steel mills in the market. However, the effectiveness varies by manufacturer. It is necessary to communicate specifically with the binder manufacturer and conduct tests to select the appropriate one.
